Google Fast Flip is still in testing phase. Fast Flip shows captured images of articles of publishers' websites. The algorithm behind the service has a focus on raising news, but users can create their own topics and search for subjects of interest.
As Journalism.co.uk reports publishers including Daily Telegraph, the Daily Express, NYTimes and the Washington Post have signed up the service. Publishers are willing to become partners because Fast Flip redirects readers back to the original source of the article.
Journalism.co.uk references reports from Italian newspaper la Repubblica which state that Google seems to be willing to explore publisher control of advertising, e.g. contextually relevant ads, around their Fast Flip article page. It will even allow publishes to sell this ad space on their own. Still the service is only available on the English-language version of Google News.
