Guardian :: Frightening TV footage and scenes of destruction captivated Americans for several hours late Tuesday afternoon, as multiple tornadoes tore through parts of Texas. Within minutes, photos of the destruction flooded the web. The social news site Buzzfeed was criticised for failing to check the authenticity of some tornado photos it had gathered together, and for not immediately acknowledging its error when it removed them.
