New BBC director general could be named this week

The Guardian :: The next director general of the BBC could be named by the end of this week after the second round of interviews takes place. Those understood to have made it through to the final shortlist for the most powerful job in UK broadcasting include the BBC chief operating officer, Caroline Thomson, the BBC Vision director, George Entwistle, and the Ofcom chief executive, Ed Richards.
