Fox's entire internship program now under legal attack

Hollywood Reporter :: Last fall, two interns who worked on Black Swan sued Fox Searchlight, claiming that the company's unpaid internship program violated minimum wage and overtime laws. A class-action lawsuit that takes issue with internships at Fox Entertainment is becoming a lot bigger.

Fox charges "BarryDriller.com" streaming service with copyright infringement

FilmOn's online service BarryDriller.com has just been launched. The new service is a competitor to Aereo, and streams movies and live TV  in HD quality in Europe as well. Alki David is FilmOn's CEO. Fox filed a lawsuit on Friday and claims the site violates its copyrights and trademarks by streaming its KTTV-DT LA signal without permission, as Carl Marcucci, RBR.com reports.

Deadline :: Digital entrepreneur Alki David has a characteristically tough sounding response to the suit against his BarryDriller streaming video service that Fox filed yesterday at U.S. District Court in California.

Why it’s so hard for SCOTUSblog to get Supreme Court press credentials?

Poynter :: SCOTUSblog has gotten widespread attention in recent weeks for its accurate and detailed coverage of the Supreme Court’s ruling on the Affordable Care Act (PDF direct download link) and the mistakes CNN and Fox News made while covering it.

Despite high reach and widespread use, SCOTUSblog it’s still not credentialed by the Court — and probably won’t be anytime soon. The issue renews attention to the limitations of press credentialing and raises important questions about whether the credentialing criteria for news sites needs to change.

Copyright violation? CBS, NBC and Fox head to court over Dish ad-skipping feature

Los Angeles Times :: Satellite TV provider Dish Network's new ad-skipping feature, AutoHop, enables subscribers to black out ads on programs they've saved on their digital video recorders. When activated, AutoHop turns the screen dark when a commercial arrives, then returns to the show a few seconds later. CBS, NBC and Fox have sued, saying the feature violates copyright laws and jeopardizes the financial foundation of the entire television industry.

Were CNN & Fox News’ mistakes on Supreme Court ruling part of ‘process journalism’?

Poynter :: We all know that CNN and Fox News mistakenly reported Thursday that the Supreme Court struck down the “individual mandate” part of the health care law. How did this happen? Who’s responsible?

I blame Jeff Jarvis.

[Steve Myers] Fox and CNN’s mistakes stemmed from their decisions to report what they knew, or thought they knew, as soon as they knew it. In other words, it stemmed from their embrace of process journalism: Publish what you have now, figure out the story as you go, correct your mistakes as you update.

Rupert Murdoch snubs Britain and says he will invest his billions in the US

Guardian :: Rupert Murdoch appears to have turned his back on Britain following his humiliation over the phone-hacking scandal. In an interview with the Fox Business channel on Thursday following New Corporation's confirmation that it was splitting into two companies, entertainment and publishing, Murdoch said he would be "a lot more reluctant" to invest in Britain now, compared to the US.
