Reuters blogging platform hacked again on Wednesday: False Saudi blog posted

The identity of the hacker(s) are unknown, but of course Reuters speculates on the reasons behind the recent attacks and ascribes it to "an intensifying conflict in cyberspace between supporters and opponents of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad."

Reuters :: The blogging platform of the Reuters News website was hacked (on Wednesday) and a false posting saying Saudi Arabia's Foreign Minister Prince Saud al-Faisal had died was illegally posted on a Reuters journalist's blog, the company said on Wednesday.

Second security breach: @ReutersTech was hacked and changed to @ReutersME

The Next Web :: New agency Thomson Reuters suffered its second Web security breach in 48 hours after hackers took control of its Twitter account dedicated to technology news, changing the focus to the Middle East and posting a series of pro-Syrian government tweets to its 17,500 followers.

Earlier today @reuterstech was hacked and changed to @reutersme. The account has been suspended and is currently under investigation

Reuters :: Thomson Reuters said the blogging platform of the Reuters News website was compromised on Friday and a false posting purporting to carry an interview with a Syrian rebel leader was illegally posted on a Reuters' journalist's blog.

RISJ Digital Report 2012: Insights about digital news consumption across Europe and the United States

Reuters Insitute Digital Report :: The Reuters Institute Digital Report 2012 reveals new insights about digital news consumption across Europe and the United States. Based on a representative survey of online news consumers across five countries – UK, US, Germany, France and Denmark – the report is the start of an ambitious project to track changing digital news behaviour over the next decade.

Did you know, that there are significant differences in how regularly people keep up with the news across the surveyed countries? More than 9 in 10 Germans access the news at least once a day compared with only 3 in 4 people in the United Kingdom. The rapid switch from print to digital in the United States is not being replicated exactly in European countries. Germany is showing the strongest allegiance to traditional viewing and reading habits and has the lowest levels of internet news use.

22 'global thought leaders': Reuters appoints editorial advisory board

The Baron :: Reuters named an international editorial advisory board of 22 “global thought leaders” and said it held its first meeting earlier on Tuesday. Stephen Adler, editor-in-chief, said the panel had been assembled to share with Reuters their insight into the sectors of finance, technology, media, law, government, tax and other areas of interest to Reuters customers world-wide.

Reuters' Anthony De Rosa wants social media at center stage

The Content Strategist :: Reuters' social media editor Anthony De Rosa said he had used variations of online social media since he was a teenager, but only discovered its real power later. “I think during the Green Revolution I started using [social media] a lot more,” De Rosa, the 36-year-old who oversees Reuters’ approximately 30 social media accounts, told The Content Strategist. ”It got my attention as being a way to see what’s going on in other places and provide information that wasn’t available.”

De Rosa, who attracted Reuters’ editors through his highly touted Tumblr, Soup, brought to the position many of the initial sensibilities that drew him to social media. Part of that is an ability to find information that will become popular.
